Labor Temps 20 Year Partnership Proves Responsiveness Matters
In order to initially build and eventually expand their business, this customer was looking for a staffing partner that would be able to grow with them and had the same Midwestern principles that were core to their business: hardworking, flexible, ethical, and responsive to their clients’ needs.
Additionally, they needed a flexible staffing supplier that could provide quality workers who would complement their full-time staff to ensure orders were filled, projects were successfully completed, and a partner that would recruit, train, manage, track, and pay these resources on time, so there was never a disruption to their business.
The founders were referred to Labor Temps and the rest, as they say, is history. The two organizations have enjoyed a partnership spanning 21 years and in that time, Labor Temps has supplied them with thousands of contingent workers, allowing them the flexible and reliable contingent staff they require to support their ever-growing business.
Labor Temps averages over a dozen contingent workers a day onsite and also regularly provides on-demand labor for projects that can last anywhere from a day to a month or more. Labor Temps prescreens every worker in advance, as well as provides workplace safety training so this customer can have resources available as their needs ebb and flow. The Labor Temps contractors operate machinery that mix the spices, as well as resources who provide packaging, labeling, and shipping needs at their distribution center.
Labor Temps has also helped bring innovation and efficiency to this customer by introducing and installing NOVAtime, an automated time-tracking system with multi-language support that allows workers to punch in and out, transfer, and request time-off, ensuring accurate tracking of all workers’ time. In fact, it worked so well they now use the system internally. The clock allows for an electronic account for all hours worked, tracks vacation time, and provides advanced reporting, which is used by hiring managers to spot labor trends and precisely manage budgets for both full-time and contract resources.
This is just one example of Labor Temps ability to consistently bring creativity and efficiency to help solve their customers’ business needs.
“What sets Labor Temps apart from our other suppliers is the level of service and hands on approach they provide,” said the Vice President of Operations. “Their candidate quality is a step above the others and that comes from a willingness to consistently understand our business needs and who will work well in our culture.” That culture fit is not only important for Labor Temps’ contingent workers, but extends to their internal staff as well. Labor Temps matches their account managers with clients for the long term, and takes time to understand who can deliver successful results. “Our Labor Temps account manager’s willingness to do anything we need has been exemplary,” said the VP of Operations. “We are in constant contact and he is onsite at least once a week hand delivering paychecks, so there is always open communication. That personal relationship is important and his willingness to work with us and be flexible to our needs has been critical.”
It is also Labor Temps job to understand the ever-changing laws impacting contingent labor. For instance, recent regulations went into effect in Chicago requiring organizations to pay temporary workers for sick time. Understanding this would be difficult for many customers to manage individually, Labor Temps suggested a stock charge to this customer so they didn’t have to administer this on a per-contractor basis. Labor Temps now tracks contractor accruals, as well as their use, to make sure both parties are compliant with these new regulations and remain risk-free. “This is just one more example of their ability to be flexible to our business needs. We have wiggle room with Labor Temps, and that’s important.”
